Heart Attack

Our critical care team of expert physicians and nurses are ready to provide a wide range of life-saving cardiac care to our patients, including those who’ve suffered heart attacks. Our Heart Center boasts innovative technology, allowing our team to quickly evaluate, diagnose, and treat heart attack patients precisely and accurately 24 hours a day.

Our cardiac-care team is comprised of highly trained experts who are ready to provide a full range of high-quality cardiovascular services. We are ready to intervene when patients’ need immediate diagnosis and care, but we also offer preventative services, including wellness programs and patient education.

Critical Care During Emergencies

When it comes to matters of the heart, seconds count. We’ve partnered with emergency first responders to streamline care. The most dangerous type of heart attack is called a “STEMI” – and patients experiencing one need emergency angioplasty, ideally within 90 minutes. We make sure our cardiologists are always available to perform emergency angioplasties.

Our Heart Center also features a state-of-the-art pre- and post-procedure unit, along with a separate waiting room for heart patients. From our chest pain center and cardiac catheterization laboratory to our open-heart surgical suites, CCU and CVICU, Jackson is well-equipped to handle all matters of the heart.

Our Cardiac Catheterization Labs

Jackson’s Heart Center boasts three cardiac catheterization labs, equipped with Philips flat-panel cardiac systems. These systems can complete diagnostic, interventional cardiac, and peripheral procedures without surgery. In these labs, our cardiologists perform tests and procedures designed to quickly diagnose and treat heart conditions.

Some of the procedures performed in our cardiac catheterization laboratory include:

  • Heart Biopsy

  • Coronary Arteriogram

  • Balloon Angioplasty

  • Stenting

  • Ablation

  • Atherectomy

  • Thrombectomy

Our advanced system allows for more data to be collected during each procedure, giving our staff of doctors, nurses, and technologists instant access to our patients’ history.

Quality Heart Care

Jackson Hospital was the first hospital in Alabama to be awarded the gold seal of approval for heart attack care from The Joint Commission. To earn the seal, the hospital demonstrated compliance with The Joint Commission's national standards for quality and safety in heart attack care. The certification awards the hospital's dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission's state-of-the-art standards.

At Jackson Hospital, we have a commitment to excellence. We put our patients first, providing compassionate care. Our physicians have access to world-class technology, allowing them to deliver the best outcomes possible for everyone who comes through our doors.
